This section of the site is intended as a repository of technology related issues relating to p2p and trust, though not all may be immediately relevant. Real-world systems or yet-to-be implemented technologies fit here, so discussions of implementations fit here, as do languages such as E.
Events
- CodeCon 2002 - "CodeCon 2002, scheduled for February 15, 16, and 17 in San Francisco, California, is the premier event in 2002 for the P2P, cypherpunk, and network/security application developer community. It is a workshop for developers of real-world applications that support individual liberties."
People or collections of people
- p2p hackers - Peer to peer development (mailing list, digest available)
Places
- ERights, home of E, "the secure distributed pure-object platform and p2p scripting language for writing Capability-Based Smart Contracts." ERights is a great place to get started on the technology - there's some great thinking and some very useful writing on this site. The site, unsurprisingly, is very much based around the language, but there's lots to learn even if using E isn't your goal.
- Open Privacy - "The OpenPrivacy initiative is an Open Source collection of software frameworks, protocols and services providing a cryptographically secure and distributed platform for creating, maintaining, and selectively sharing user profile information." An important issue dealt with on this site is being able to protect one's identity. See the section on Reputations, which is directly relevant to p2p trust.
- JXTA - "JXTA technology is a set of open, generalized peer-to-peer protocols that allow any connected device on the network from cell phone to PDA from PC to server to communicate and collaborate in a peer to peer manner." Something I want to spend more time looking at - some of the applications look interesting, and in need of a some thoughts about trust!
- Balanced Adaptive Relay Network - some work by Rob J. Meijer looking at how to implement some technology in the area of trust and p2p networks.
